PGH have utilised Exchanges to source thousands of quality empties from the wider network, who drop empties straight into their yard with a 5-minute turnaround time. This eliminates PGH’s need to send trucks to the empty container park (ECP) for this equipment.

MatchBox Exchange has proven to be a game-changer for PGH. The main benefits include ease of access to containers, and reduced booking fees when compared to picking up from ECPs. With ECP turnaround times sometimes more than 120 minutes per truck, using the MatchBox system has benefitted not just us, but the other partners on the system we collaborate with.
2) Could you share what motivated your decision to begin using the container Exchange feature, and how does it integrate within your business’ operations?
The decision to use the Exchange feature began during COVID when container availability was very tight. By partnering with other users, we were able to seamlessly locate available containers, facilitating smoother operations and minimising delays in our supply chain.
3) Do you see benefits in collaborating with other parties via our platform? If so, What are they?
Collaborating with other parties through MatchBox Exchange has indeed been advantageous. We’ve found opportunities to work very closely with importers and other carriers to provide them with our upcoming schedule and work to avoid lengthy delays at the ECPs which benefit both parties. This collaboration has not only improved our supply chain but also fostered stronger relationships within our industry network.
4) Could you provide insights into the user-friendliness of the platform?
The platform’s user-friendly interface has made it easy for our team to navigate and access the necessary information promptly. We are looking forward to further updates of the platform so that the exchange can continue to grow.
5) Have you seen growth in your business using MB’s Exchange feature?
Since integrating MatchBox’s Exchange feature into our operations, we have observed significant increases in efficiency. As our business has grown, we do not have the resources available to spend hours at ECPs who charge exorbitant fees. By integrating MatchBox into our operations, we have decreased the amount of money we spend at the ECPs and the amount of time our trucks are waiting.
